Elopement Photography
I am happiest when I’m outdoors, so being an elopement photographer combines my love for photography and beautiful landscapes.
Whether I’m half way up a mountain, (and probably out of breath) or wild swimming under a waterfall, I feel at home.
Natural photography is my thing and it’s no different when it comes to elopements. There might be a smaller amount of people to capture, but I promise nothing will be posey and I will photograph you in my documentary style.
Since the world turned upside down in 2020 and intimate weddings were the only way to be married, eloping has become more popular and I’m so here for it!
What is an elopement?
Think Ross & Rachel in Vegas, but slightly more sober and slightly more planned! It’s a wedding just for the two of you, in a place that you love, without having to think about making sure anyone else is happy.
Sometimes the big wedding isn’t for everyone, so eloping gives couples an opportunity to find somewhere beautiful and saying I do!
Gretna Green has always been the place that couples disappear to and get married, but in recent years, elopements have become more and more popular, since couples have had the confidence to decide to have a wedding that THEY want and not what everyone else wants.
If you’re outdoors people, what could be better than getting married at the top of a mountain?
Where can I elope?
The opportunities are endless. If you’re thinking of eloping in the UK and want your elopement to include a legal ceremony, I’d recommend eloping in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Here you can legally marry anywhere! (With landowner’s permission, of course.)
Unfortunately, England and Wales are yet to catch up on this, however you can still elope! For example if you want to run off to the mountains in the Lake District or the sea in Cornwall, you have the option of doing the legal paperwork in the registry office, and having a celebrant for your intimate and personal wedding ceremony.
Of course the places you can elope to don’t have to end in the UK. You can legally marry anywhere in Italy with the right permits, have you thought about getting married in the oh so beautiful Dolomites? Or if you’re a coastal lover you could opt for the backdrop of the Amalfi coast or Cinque Terre whilst saying your vows. (Italy really is the perfect country isn’t it?!)
If being in the mountains is your thing, Switzerland is off the cards for legal ceremonies, but the Austrian Alps offer a much more budget friendly elopement location.
How can you help with as an elopement photographer?
LOCATIONS
When I’m not at home in the Peak District, I’m often on an adventure in my Campervan. So after countless road trips around the Lake District, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, it’s safe to say I’ve seen some beautiful places! Including lots of perfect backdrops for an elopement wedding ceremony.
If you’re thinking further afield, I can help there too! I’ve spent months living out of our Campervan in Europe and off the beaten track is our idea of heaven. So whether you’re wanting to elope on the Isle of Skye or underneath the Tre Cime peaks of the Dolomites, I can help you plan it and of course, capture it all!
SUPPLIERS
Working so closely in the wedding industry, I have been lucky enough to work with so many other creatives. The suppliers you’re going to want for an elopement are different to what you’d need for a wedding. You might need a mountain leader, a makeup artist specialising in elopements, off-road transport, whatever adventure you decide on, I can help you find the right supplier for you.
I’d highly recommend having photo + video for your elopement, and for videography, I often work with my friend over at Rue & Wild.

Kind Words
Just a few of the lovely humans I have captured across the UK & beyond!

Emily & Clayton 🇺🇸
“We had the most amazing time eloping in Isle of Skye with Ellie! My husband and I were looking for absolutely anywhere to elope last November and left it in the hands of Ellie and she did not disappoint! This review is super overdue but everything turned out amazing and it was truly an unforgettable moment with lots of surprises included. Ellie had gone above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect and even found us a private but beautiful spot to elope, I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer 🩷 We loved every moment, from learning last minute how to tie a tie to eating candies in the rain after our vows. Thank you Ellie for absolutely everything, definitely will be reaching out again in the future!!! 🩷🩷🩷”

“We loved Ellie and the photos that she captured. We did a micro wedding in the Peak District on a super hot day. As someone who is not very comfortable in front of the camera, I felt at ease thanks to Ellie. She is approachable and organised. She was very good with our dog as well! We got lovely previews to share with our friends and family the next day, and a video a couple of weeks later.”

“Ellie is the perfect photographer for any occasion. We have had a family shoot, and more recently she came to Venice, Italy to shoot our intimate Vow Renewal. From start to finish Ellies effort, attention to detail, and stunning work would mean we would never go anywhere else for photography. We are overwhelmed with our beautiful images we can cherish forever – Thank you Ellie x”
