An autumn wedding at The White Hart Inn
Family ties and autumn style in Moorwood Moor, Derbyshire
Lauren and Tom’s autumn wedding at The White Hart Inn, Derbyshire was an absolute gem of a day. It was just so heartwarmingly lovely, you know?!
Fun and personal, but still stylish. Warm and wonderfully autumnal, but not overly…Halloweeny! There was even a spaniel in a bowtie! These two know the way to my heart!
But for me, the best part of the day was the people in it.
The families, the atmosphere, the infectious happiness. I finished the day feeling festive, and so so grateful to do this job.
If you’re looking for some autumn wedding inspiration, you’ve hit the jackpot! After some heartwarming family moments? We’ve got them too! Come take a look…
The White Hart Inn wedding venue in Moorwood Moor
The White Hart Inn is a gorgeous place to get married.
Backdropped by beautiful Derbyshire countryside, open fields and tree-dotted hills, it’s the perfect blend of rural charm and contemporary style.
The food is tasty, the team are lovely, the outdoor photo opps are endless! And with everything all in one place, you can get ready, get married and get merry without even thinking about a car.
If you’re looking for a countryside wedding venue in Derbyshire, The White Hart Inn is pretty tough to beat.
First looks and Essence of Australia
I spent a wonderfully slow morning in the cosy rooms of White Hart Inn, getting ready with Lauren and her girls.
And oh my, Lauren’s dress from Essense of Australia was an absolute knockout! They call it “Vintage-inspired lace meets bridal glam”, and I couldn’t have put it better myself!
She completed the look with elegant hair and makeup. And an absolutely stunning dahlia and rose autumn bouquet.
Before we knew it, it was time for ‘first looks’. And honestly, these are some of my favourite parts of the day. The joy and excitement in Lauren’s friends’ faces; the overwhelming pride and emotion in her dad’s.
There are all different kinds of love that’ll fill your wedding day. And as a wedding photographer, I always feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of it.
A ceremony in The Orangery of White Hart Inn
Light poured through the huge skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows of The Orangery. Burnt-amber accents filled the space- buttonholes, ties, and bridesmaids dresses. And behind the altar, a spectacular floral arch of autumn blooms.
And as Lauren took her walk down the aisle, Tom got a little surprise!
Lauren had arranged for special aisle-walk music – written and played by their close friend. It began with Pachelbel’s Canon and then blended seamlessly into Lord of the Rings! Tom is a HUGE LoTR nerd! And the smile on his face when he heard it was priceless.
The ceremony was intimate, super-personal and tons of fun. They kissed, they signed, they made it official.
And a little while later, dried-petal confetti filled the milky autumn sky.
Couples portraits, and a spaniel in a bowtie
The October daylight was fading fast, and the beautiful grounds were calling. So L&T had a few drinks, and a bit of a mingle. Then it was time for crazy Milo to arrive, chaperoned by the lovely Anastasia of Pawfect Pet Sitter. He was suited and booted and ready for the zoomies.
The air was fresh and cool; the ground scattered with leaves; the trees warm with autumn hues.
And I just *love* this about autumn weddings. Especially in a countryside wedding venue like The White Hart Inn. Your couple’s portrait session feels surreally magical- almost secret.
Just the two of you, secluded in nature, sharing a few stolen minutes as a newly married couple.
(If you block out the sounds of Lou & myself 4th wheeling you with cameras!)
Styling inspo for your autumn wedding in White Hart Inn
The reception styling was an understated autumn wedding masterclass. Playful, fun, and festive. But elegant, and modern. It’s a difficult balance to pull off. And Rent for your Event nailed it!
There were little velvet pumpkins, and rustic wooden place settings. They had polaroids of their life together, and a ‘snack heart’ of their favourite crisps. The stationary was elegant and boho; the buttercream cake topped with autumn flowers and subtle gold leaf.
Everywhere you looked was a personal touch, a thoughtful detail. And as you walked in, you couldn’t help but smile.
The speeches were hilarious, the food was insanely tasty! There were all sorts of love, bear-hugs and tearful kisses.
And with night gathering outside, it was time for the sparklers…
Golden sparklers and a CRAZY party!
The rest of the evening was a wonderful blur.
They had sparklers in the courtyard, and ‘just married’ kisses in the jack-o-lantern glow. The band was seriously awesome! The drinks were flowing, the dance-moves were dodgy, the party was unhinged!
And as I poured myself into the car, I nibbled on a cupcake, and fell in love with my job all over again.
