A fun-filled, sustainable wedding at The Wellbeing Farm

Some weddings have puppies, and llamas in bow-ties…

Some are stylish and considered; some are intimate, personal and warm. Sometimes they’re vibey, and fun, and filled with music. Lewis and Leah’s wedding at The Wellbeing Farm was all of the above.

As a wedding photographer (and a human!) sustainability means a lot to me. And from the moment I arrived, I felt a genuine connection with the place.

The humble beauty of the venue; the rustic styling, the incredible people. The llamas, the sheep, the dog! And to finish the day- the most glorious sunset, and a party I’ll never forget.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding at The Wellbeing Farm, come take a look. L&L’s day showed us just how beautiful a sustainable wedding can be.

The Wellbeing Farm wedding venue in Lancashire

“We believe weddings should be magical- but not at the expense of the planet.”

The Wellbeing Farm wedding venue is something truly special.

They create zero waste. Their energy is renewable; their food is locally sourced (with some of it grown on-site). It’s laid-back and peaceful; award-winning, and B-Corp accredited.

And oh my, it’s just the most quirky-fun place to get married!

There’s a bright blue tractor, and a willow-arch doorway. There’s sheep, and trees, and llamas. And in a quiet corner of the grounds, a little white hut with a little red door.

And on that morning- in the “getting ready room” above the barn- was Leah.

Getting ready with her mum and her flower girl; looking out the window, and watching people arrive…

An intimate wedding at The Wellbeing Farm

When you have your wedding at The Wellbeing Farm, your whole day goes down in one place. Your ceremony, reception and party, all in that beautiful barn.

An honestly, it is *such* a gorgeous space. Wonderfully rustic, welcoming and warm.

A canopy of drapes hung from the ceiling- with clouds of foliage, and festoon-light chandeliers. And a stunning floral arch stood at the top of the aisle- with pure-white blooms, and accents of midnight blue.

Leah walked with her mum down the aisle- that gorgeous lace dress floating around her as she walked.

We had an emotional poem from Lewis’ mum (and a big laugh when the registrar said “two people in onion” instead of “union”!)

They exchanged vows, and rings, and kissed, and hugged. And as the celebrant made it official, a huge cheer filled the barn, and carried out into the farmyard.

Confetti, drinks, and llamas

A little while later, we were standing outside in the sunshine.

Dried-petal confetti filled the air (shout out to 8 year-old Ezra from Ezra’s Confetti!) We had hugs all round, and a big group photo in front of the barn.

Then it was drinks, and catch-ups, and the tastiest of nibbles! And then? Llamas. Cuddly, friendly llamas!

We gathered outside in the February sunshine. Drinking and laughing; fussing over Nigel and Ezra, and Sandra the sheep.

It was just the most bizarre, heartwarming, wonderful drinks reception. And when we went off for group shots, the energy was incredible!

April the Labrador

Her jet-black tail was wagging furiously as she saw them. She’d been with the dog chaperone all morning, and it felt like forever.

She jumped up on Leah, and licked Lewis’ face. Then she came in for cuddles; licked Lewis again, and took great pleasure in laying down in Leah’s dress!

L&L laughed, and kissed, and danced in the sunshine. And got all the love from that loveable little puppy.

Ahh! We do not deserve dogs.

Styling inspiration for your wedding at The Wellbeing Farm

The reception styling was beautiful. Understated, and personal, and just perfect for the space.

A single banqueting table ran the length of the barn, like one big family meal. Beers sat in ice buckets, and candles flickered from log centrepieces. They had a wooden photo frame- overflowing with florals, and memories through the years.

And as a final touch: Leah’s friends had each painted a bird on the hen do. She’d had them digitalised for the seating plan, and put the originals on the table.

Leah’s step-father grabbed the mic- the world’s biggest hype-man in the world’s coolest suit! And as he introduced L&L back into the barn, the whole room erupted into cheers.

We had some heartfelt speeches, and a poem from Leah’s mum. And just before the three courses of seriously delicious (and locally sourced!) food, I headed out into the sunset with Lewis and Leah.

Golden hour at The Wellbeing Farm wedding venue

The noise faded away as the barn door clicked shut behind us. Animals sang out in the distance; sheep, and cows, and llamas, and birds.

And for a little while, it was just us. Them.

The sun sank slowly behind the hills as L&L hugged, and kissed, and danced in the sunset. Lewis looking dapper in his tailored suit; a gentle breeze playing in Leah’s hair, and in the layers of her dress.

And for me, this is one of the best things about having your wedding at The Wellbeing Farm.

Inside it’s family, and laughter, and the people you love. Step outside, and you have the world to yourselves.

“Dance like no one’s watching, and leave your inhibitions at the door”

In twos and threes, the evening guests started to arrive. And as the sun finally set, it was time for the party.

L&L cut their Colin the Caterpillar cakes (because let’s be honest, Colin is undefeated, right?!)

The Soul Movement filled the barn with the most awesome energy. A beautiful blur of chaos and music, flowing lace, teal, amethyst, and blue. Leah grabbed the mic; Lewis was on his knees, bowing to the band.

It was the most amazing end to the most amazing day. And if I had the chance, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.
