A stylishly rustic wedding at Royle Forest Weddings
There’s something magical that happens when you get married in the woods…
You smile wider, laugh harder, love deeper, dance longer. You make memories- proper memories– with the people you love. And you usually drink a lot more than you should! And let me tell you…of all the woodland wedding venues in all the world, Royle Forest Weddings is a tough one to beat.
Beth and Charlie had their summer wedding there earlier this year. And honestly, we had *the most* incredible day!
The energy was electric, the drinks were flowing, the sunset was gloriously golden. And the styling? Oh my God, exquisite. Monochrome and modern, with a fuzzy-warm rustic edge.
If you’re thinking of getting married in Royle Forest Weddings, come take a little look. B&C’s day will have you dreaming of a wedding in the woods…
A tale of two mornings
Charlie’s morning began in a wildly colourful, seriously funky house in the grounds of Royle Forest Wedding venue. And what a space! It was like something from Alice in Wonderland!
And when we stepped outside- with Charlie’s cream jacket, the sunshine, the almost-tropical garden…ahhh! It felt like we were abroad!
Meanwhile- in another quirky little place on-site- Beth was getting ready with her friends.
And it was lovely, you know? The girls, chatting away in their matching PJs; Beth’s niece having her nails painted by her dad. It was so chilled.
Beth looked stunning in her figure-hugging lace gown from Allure Bridal, picked to perfectly match their forest wedding. She completed the look with natural makeup, and a gorgeous bouquet of dried florals and pure-white roses. And as a touch of sparkle: pearl earrings, a pearl headpiece, and *those* showstopping heels.
In what felt like no time at all, we were ready to go, we headed out into the sunshine, and made our way to their wedding in Royle Forest.
The ancient chapel in Royle Forest Weddings
The wedding chapel in Royle Forest is a truly special place to get married.
It all begins with a walk through the woods. The gravel path crunches beneath your feet, the birds sing to you from the trees. And with a little butterfly buzz, you hear the chatter of your guests from the tipi up ahead.
Rows of pews sit in the canvas shade; sunlight pours in through the open sides. And behind the altar- the ruins of an ancient chapel. Forgotten for centuries in the quiet of the trees.
And it was there- in that idyllic space- that Charlie and Beth said their vows.
The ceremony was beautiful- heartfelt, emotional, and completely personal to them. Their friend was the celebrant; they had readings from their friends. They also did a “surprise ring bearer”, where they stuck the ring box underneath one of the chairs!
And as their friend made it official, a huge cheer filled the tipi, and they strolled out into the forest as husband and wife.
We almost lost them in the confetti…
The confetti shot was EPIC! The guests had literal handfuls of petals, and they nearly disappeared in the confetti!
They had a sax player serenading us as we drank, caught up, and nibbled away.
There were hugs all round in that glorious sunshine; sangria, prosecco and tasty nibbles.
And after an impromptu stroll through the woods with B&C, we headed into the tipis for the reception.
Reception styling inspiration for your wedding in Royle Forest
From the moment they walked into that reception space, the energy was incredible! The guests were cheering, feet stomping, napkins waving.
And oh my, the reception styling was flawless.
They had an elegant welcome sign from PDM, there was sheer table runners, and ruffled sheer napkins (complete with monogrammed gold drinks tokens!) And their table names- simple gold frames with photos from their pre-wedding shoot with me.
It was understated, considered, and effortlessly beautiful- bringing a gorgeously-modern elegance to the rustic aesthetic of the space.
We had some hilarious speeches, and some insanely tasty food!
And with the evening creeping in, we headed into the toilets for some group shots (yep, you read that right…)
Frozen Daiquiris and Vanity Fair
As a wedding photographer, I’m not usually one for toilet photos. But man, these were some fancy toilets!
It all began calmly. Vanity Fair poses, and Vogue-worthy chic. Beth and her bridesmaids in those stunning black dresses; Charlie and his boys looking suave as hell. And then it gradually unravelled into pissing-themselves, dancing-on-the-spot chaos!
A little while later, we were stumbling outside, and blinking in the sunshine.
The evening guests were starting to arrive, frozen daiquiris were flowing from the uber-cool Silo Bar. And after a few more drinks, we disappeared with the wedding party for some more high-energy group shots.
And can I just say? I think this is *the* best time of the day to have photos with your friends.
Get a little tipsy, wait for that oh-so-photogenic evening sunshine. And then unleash that wild, unfiltered, best-friend energy!
Royle Forest Weddings is THE place for a party!
Royle Forest Weddings is an amazing place for a no-holds-barred rave.
The five adjoining tipis give you tons of space to party, drink, mingle, and chill to your hearts’ content. Rave in the party tipi, maybe rest your feet in the chill bar, or spill outside for a chat.
Oh, and there are no neighbours (I repeat: there are no neighbours!)
And yeah…we partied hard! The DJ and sax player brought all kinds of crazy energy. There were daiquiri-fuelled dance-moves, thrown shapes and *tons* of hugs!
And with the golden light of sunset pouring into the tipi, we whisked Beth and Charlie away for a little stroll around the grounds.

Fun fact: Beth & I go wayyy back!
We used to be Rainbows leaders together; she works at the amazing Ashgate Hospice where I volunteer. So being there to see (& capture) her & Charlie getting married in those beautifully-sundrenched grounds…
*Ugly sob* I was tearing up behind my camera!
The festoon lights twinkled from the branches, the sound of the distant party carried to us through the trees. And for a little while, Charlie and Beth were in their own little world. Dancing, hugging, kissing, laughing…
See what I mean? There’s something magical that happens when you get married in the woods.
