A stylishly colourful wedding at Eyam Hall, Derbyshire

The epic, the intimate, and the infectiously fun

Holly and Will’s wedding at Eyam Hall was one of those days that had everything. And I do mean everything! Colourful and stylish; epic and intimate; beautifully considered, and just TONS of fun!

A rainbow of florals, elegant details, and wonderfully playful styling. There were lawn games, and mini-golf, live music, and laughter. And this infectiously happy, loved-up energy that just flowed through the whole day.

I brought my second shooter (and other half!) Adam along with me. And we didn’t stop smiling the whole way home.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding at Eyam Hall, come take a little look. Holly and Will’s day is bursting with inspiration.

Champagne, stories, and Sassi Holford

My day began with Holly and her girls, getting ready in Dale House, Litton. We had presents on the sofa, and champagne in the garden. Stories, and tunes, and more champagne!

Holly looked incredible in her absolute showstopper from Sassi Holford. She completed the look with natural hair and makeup, a chapel-length veil, and a rainbow bouquet of scabiosa, bellflowers, and dahlias.

We had photos in the sunshine with her girls, and her family. And then headed down the road to the ceremony.

The other side of the story

While the girls were sipping champagne and I was swooning over Sassi, my second shooter, Adam, was over the road with Will.

Pints in the beer garden; suits, sunnies, and bear-hugs at the bar. And then a stroll up the hill to the church.

And this is one thing I love about having a second shooter. Because you get both sides of the story.

The guests arriving, the hugs hello. The lads getting ready, and fiddling with their buttonholes; the flower-boy and flower-girl practising their steps.

And I love that when Will and Holly look through their gallery they’ll get to experience all of it. To relive the bits they were there for. And folded in-between: a whole side of their day they never got to see.

A heartfelt ceremony in Tideswell Church

A crunch of tyres in the courtyard; the flutter of white ribbons in the breeze.

Holly’s flower-girl running down the path to meet her; her bridesmaids cheering and laughing from the church door.

And as she stepped inside? Will’s face lit up with just the biggest smile!

We had hymns, readings, and vows in that breathtaking church.

And as the vicar made it official, a huge cheer echoed through the rafters, and Holly and Will walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.

A Triumph of confetti (see what I did there?!)

A little while later, we were standing outside in the sun-dappled shade.

The guests lined up along the path for the world’s most epic confetti line! A rainbow of petals filled the air, and scattered the churchyard. And as the last of the cheers died away, H&W hugged their guests goodbye, and jumped into Will’s lovingly-rebuilt Triumph.

Fast forward a few minutes, and we were climbing out of our cars at Monsal Head.

And oh wow, *what* a view! The Peak District rolling into the distance; the Headstone viaduct arching through the valley below.

I absolutely love these in-betweeny bits of the day. These few stolen minutes when you get to leave everything else behind, and just be together for a while.

H&W hugged and kissed. They laughed, they caught up, they soaked in the view. And with their reception calling, and their guests waiting, they jumped into the Triumph, and headed to their wedding at Eyam Hall.

A little about Eyam Hall wedding venue

Meanwhile, Adam was at Eyam Hall wedding venue catching the guests arriving.

And honestly, I absolutely adore this place. Built as a wedding present in the 17th Century, the family-run venue has been hosting weddings for over 30 years.

There’s an acre of stunning walled gardens, and a cosy-enclosed lawn. There’s a gorgeous marquee for your reception, and even a private pub! It’s also registered, so you can get ready, get married, and go crazy all in one place!

We had a lovely drinks reception in the walled garden. Aperol & spritz flowed; beers popped, and champagne fizzed. Waking Vegas provided the background music. There was croquet, quoits, and giant chess on the sunny lawn.

And after some fun group photos (and Adam doubling up as an automotive photographer capturing Will’s car!) it was time for everyone to find their seats…

Styling inspiration for your wedding in Eyam Hall

Allow me to introduce you to the world’s best table plan!

The exceptionally-talented Kate and Charlie from Hey Draw Me had done what they do best. And in all my years as a wedding photographer, I’ve never seen anything like it!

Each guest had their own cartoon portrait instead of their name. Everyone was pointing each other out, laughing, and taking pictures. And I spent a few happy minutes watching them all trying to find themselves!

Inside the marquee was just as personal, just as colourful, and just as fun.

The tablescape was a gorgeous tapestry of pastels, textures, artwork and florals. The watercolour menus, and portrait place settings. The floral meadows and miniature table arrangements; the elegant white cake with its bride and groom ducks.

We had speeches, drinks, and some super-tasty food. And with our bellies full, we spilled outside into the afternoon sun.

Firepits, mini-golf, and sassy Sassi

Firepits crackled in the settling dusk. The guests played mini-golf, and chatted away on the lawn. And as night fell, the sound of a saxophone called us back inside for the party.

Holly and Will’s friend played his sax to get the party started, and Waking Vegas carried it on for the first dance. The song finished with an EPIC confetti cannon! And oh man, that dance floor filled.

Waking Vegas brought the party vibes. There were hugs, and singing, and kisses in the chaos. Kicked-off heels, and Sassi Holford slut-drops. The energy was bottomless, hilarious, and all the best kinds of crazy.

It was an awesome end to such an incredible day. And Adam and I stumbled into the night with smiles on our faces, and our camera-rolls filled

Looking for a wedding photographer at Eyam Hall? Make that TWO photographers…

Every story has two sides.

The Best Man’s speech, and the people laughing. The guests arriving as you climb into your car. Heartfelt vows, and tears in the back row. Their smile as they see you, and the way you smile back.

So I’ve decided to change up my packages a little.

If you invite me to shoot your whole wedding day, I’ll include a second shooter as part of the package. Two sets of eyes, two pairs of helping hands on the day. And when you look through your album, you’ll see both sides of the story.

If you’re looking for an Eyam Hall wedding photographer (or should I say, photographers!), we’d be so excited to hear from you.
