An Intimate Peak District Elopement Filled with Love and Adventure
A Heartfelt Peak District Elopement – Kate & Aaron
There’s something so special about eloping in the Peak District. The rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and quiet valleys make it one of the most romantic places in the UK to say your vows. It’s a place where couples can slow down, embrace nature, and focus on what truly matters — each other. As a Peak District elopement photographer, I’m lucky enough to witness so many of these intimate, emotional celebrations, and Kate & Aaron’s day was the perfect example of how beautiful a small, meaningful wedding can be.
Getting Ready in Bamford
Kate & Aaron decided early on that a big wedding wasn’t for them. They wanted something simple, relaxed, and true to who they are — just the two of them, their closest family, and their dog, Maps. They stayed in Bamford, a lovely little village surrounded by some of my favourite views in the Peaks.
When I arrived that morning, they were getting ready together — which I absolutely loved. There was such a calm, joyful energy in the room as Aaron helped attach Kate’s beautiful cape-veil, and they took turns fixing Maps’ flower collar (which, of course, he wore proudly!). Both Kate and Aaron had bouquets, which was such a thoughtful touch — Kate’s was bright and colourful, while Aaron’s had richer, autumnal tones. All of the flowers were grown by their amazing florist Rosie from The Hopeful Flower Company, a local flower farmer who creates the most natural, seasonal arrangements. It was such a joy to photograph those blooms knowing they’d been lovingly grown just a few miles away.
A Ceremony in Cave Dale
Once everyone was ready, we drove over to Castleton and wandered through the village streets before heading up into Cave Dale. I’d chosen this spot for them knowing it would be peaceful, with stunning backdrops and, thankfully, a bit of shade — it was an incredible 32 degrees that day!
Aaron’s dad led their ceremony, which made it even more personal and emotional. Surrounded by their eight guests, they shared heartfelt words, exchanged rings, and sealed it all with a kiss. There wasn’t a dry eye — even Maps seemed to take it all in quietly, lying in the grass beside them. It was intimate, raw, and so full of love.
Throwing Rice and Exploring the Peaks
After the ceremony, we took a few relaxed group photos before everyone joined in one of Kate’s Filipino traditions — throwing rice instead of confetti! It was such a joyful moment, and I love when couples bring something personal and cultural into their day.
Once the guests wandered off to enjoy a refreshment in Castleton, I whisked Kate & Aaron away for a little adventure. We drove up to Winnats Pass, one of my all-time favourite spots in the Peak District, and spent some time exploring the hills in that gorgeous golden light. These are always some of my favourite moments during an elopement — when couples finally get to breathe, soak it all in, and just be together.
Their connection was effortless, and the views were unreal. The photos we created up there truly capture what I love most about elopement photography — wild scenery, honest emotion, and two people completely wrapped up in each other.
The Evening and a Little Film
I dropped them off at the pub afterwards, where they joined their guests for a relaxed evening meal to round off the day. It couldn’t have been a more perfect ending to such an authentic, heartfelt celebration.
To go alongside their gallery, I also put together a mini highlights film — a short, cinematic glimpse into their day that captures the movement, emotion, and atmosphere in a way still photos can’t quite show. You can have a nosey below!
Why I Love Peak District Elopements
Elopements like Kate & Aaron’s are exactly why I love photographing in the place I’m lucky to call home, the Peak District — every landscape feels like it has its own story to tell, and every couple brings something completely unique to it. Whether it’s the quiet intimacy of Cave Dale or the sweeping views of Winnats Pass, this corner of the world is full of magic.
If you’re dreaming of your own Peak District elopement or looking for elopement photography that feels natural, relaxed, and full of emotion, I’d love to hear from you. And if you’re planning something a little further afield, I also travel across the UK — especially for Scotland elopements, which hold a special place in my heart.
